Case study information
The project quickly became popular with students and became an integral part of our approach to becoming a focal point in the local community for:
- The provision of business information
- Staff training
- Networking and sharing information
The Localbiz Project also played its part in the school winning national recognition when it was awarded The Arcadia Award for Outstanding Collaboration with Business at The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust Annual Conference in Birmingham on November 25th 2005.
Localbiz continues to be a valuable tool in the delivery of business and enterprise skills to our students, helping them to; either prepare for the world of work, or make smarter study options at college or university. Penistone Localbiz can be accessed at:

Since September we have been working with Ian Linnegan in finalising an update to the programme. The update, which will be available from February 2010, will have a number of additional new features, enabling more teachers to be involved and extending its potential use to students in every year.
The new model for the learning programme means that student/business relationships can be developed further, citizenship issues can be better explored and we also benefit from participating in the new revenue share programme.
