Education
In 2007 the government published its first ever ‘Children’s Plan’, a vision for change to make ‘England the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up in’,
‘It takes the whole community, working together, to make every child matter’ (www.dcsf.gov.uk/childrensplan).
This is an ongoing plan with ambitious government targets set to be achieved by 2020, and is alongside the huge push in the UK to encourage the delivery of Enterprise at school level, which is exactly what Localbiz Project does.
The Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) are currently supporting the ‘new secondary curriculum’ which began in September 2008, which is a central part of achieving the five outcomes of the ‘Children’s Plan’. Lots of schools and colleges are already making purposeful changes, trialling new approaches, restructuring their Curriculum and adapting assessment to make a difference to learners.
Localbiz Project fits nicely into these changes by focusing on the cross curriculum dimensions including, healthy lifestyles, community participation, enterprise, technology and the media, sustainable development and creativity and critical thinking.
Acting as a catalyst Localbiz Project uniquely combines the interests of students living within a community to that of its local businesses.
Vision
Localbiz Project Limited is an Enterprise Learning Initiative, linking Education with Local Businesses.
This is achieved through the supply of class leading, online community web–builder applications into schools throughout the UK.
The company’s unique software also provides a suite of online learning tools that supports teachers to develop student enterprise learning skills further.
In addition, the head office support function engages local business into the community platform; this then generates significant and real revenue share opportunities for the schools through advertising and sponsorship. Localbiz acts as an important catalyst, by integrating students (through the school network) with business from their local community.
